Here are some more photos of Malia in Crete that
were submitted by The Leeds Lads. A big thanks to Dan and the rest of the lads
for submitting these Malia photos. Here is the Leeds Lads Malia review:
In Malia we
stayed in the fantastic Odyssey apartments, in an ideal quiet location just 5
minutes walk from the Malia main bar strip. They are family run apartments and
all 15 of us got on extremely well with them. We went out for meals with them,
joined them for BBQ's and the owners of the apartments Pannos (Former Mr.
Greece!) & George even used to give us lifts back in his truck at the end of a
drunken night! Malia itself is a fantastic
place! - we first went for a week in October 2001 and returned for a 2 week
spell in June 2002 for the World Cup, the atmosphere was fantastic and it was
strange coming home from clubbing at 7 or 8am to go straight into a sports bar
to watch England!
The best
bars (that I can remember!) are probably: ROADHOUSE - a cocktail bar with
great music, drinks, & flames! – we used to start off drinking here every
night. ROCK BAR - I’m not sure what its called now, but if you’re into your
rock and heavy metal music then go here! - its always busy and they play
some fantastic alternative tunes! MALIBU - there’s an outdoor bar with palm
trees and a football pitch on one side of the road and on the other side, a
nightclub which is one of the busiest places in Malia. FACTORY - hosts foam
parties! APOLLO - probably the biggest club in Malia. 24 HOUR BAR – there
are a couple of these too where you can pay entry to have access to a 24
hour bar and you can eat what you like from the BBQ. There’s so many
fantastic bars and clubs in Malia - you won’t get bored!
During the
day there’s a beach with water sports near to the main bar strip and a water
park not far away too! - both are definitely worth doing!
As
for eating out, there’s some fantastic Greek restaurants
worth checking out – one in particular which
sadly I cant remember the name of, but we used to walk past it every night
and the owners would try and get us in with "come on in, free beers & wine
while you eat" they would say! - one of the nights they finally persuaded us
to go in and they stayed true to their promise of free unlimited alcohol
while we ate and they had fantastically well priced food!
If you’re
not into traditional Greek food then don’t worry as there are plenty of
English type places to eat. The Red Lion used to be our regular place for
great evening meals and a cracking full English, there’s also McDonalds, and
various pizza places to eat. One thing you must do is try a pizza from Mr.
Slice! He has a little street stall that bakes fresh pizzas while you wait
and I kid you not, they are the best pizzas in the world! (I took 2 home in
my bag! – they’re that good!)
If your
going to MALIA you’re going to have such an amazing time, you won’t want to
go home!
