review: I went to Cancun in Mexico and stayed at the Riu Palace Las Americas on an all inclusive basis. It was the best holiday I have ever had! The hotel was fantastic, there were 2 big pools; one was very busy with activities and the other was quieter to just sit and chill. It is located right on the beach and only 5 minutes away from the nightlife. There were a lot of water sports to do - such as jet skiing, parasailing, snorkelling; sailing etc. I would recommend parasailing - the view was amazing. Also if you fancied it, you could get a massage on the beach or use the gym and spa facilities, however, the massage and spa treatments weren’t included in the all inclusive package; but weren’t too expensive. The food was excellent - there was 1 main buffet restaurant and 5 speciality restaurants – Brazilian, Gourmet, Japanese, Spanish and a Steakhouse. There was plenty to choose from at the buffet and they changed the theme daily. There was also a good selection at breakfast and lunch and if you wished you could have your breakfast brought up to your room in the morning. There was a wide selection of drinks and I thought the cocktails were very nice. The service at the hotel was the best I have ever experienced. |

The entertainment at the hotel was ok at night - but I preferred to go to the strip of bars and clubs. I would recommend Cocobongos; it is a nightclub with a Las Vegas style show - its great! - The City is also worth a look as well as Fat Tuesdays. It is worth getting an all inclusive band for these as it works out cheaper as it includes admission and drinks all night. There are loads of shopping malls which are cheaper than at home and one with designer shops; this is expensive but worth a look. There are also plenty of fast food places and restaurants if you fancy something different from the hotel food. There are so many things to do in Cancun and there are trips available to other areas of Mexico if you wish to do a bit more sightseeing. It is a great place and the weather was fantastic as well. I will definitely be going back!
