Ayia Napa, Cyprus photos and reviews

27 of us went on this holiday to Ayia Napa. The place was a little expensive - it was £4 to £5 for a vodka & redbull, but the place looked fantastic! - As you can see from these photos of Ayia Napa, the clubs & bars are big and colourful and the beach has the whitest sand and clearest turquoise water that I have ever seen in my life!

We went in June 2004 for the European Championships football (When Greece won it!!!) There was a great atmosphere everywhere, and bars laid on free BBQ's while you could watch the footy on the big TV screens.

Nearly every bar has a theme of some sort; a lot of money has been spent on the design and styles of these places. BEDROCK - is as the name suggests a Flintstones themed karaoke bar, in here they have machines where you can inhale alcohol to get an alcoholic head rush!

CASTLE CLUB - a castle themed bar with 3 floors, one of the main bars in Ayia Napa. HEAVEN ROCK GARDEN - a rock themed bar playing music from Rolling Stones, Oasis, Prodigy, right through to Metallica, Rancid, and System of a Down, the place is themed like a garden and has Fire breathing and performances on through the night. They always get the funnel out free of charge for anyone brave enough to use it! and they even have mud wrestling for the blokes to watch! There’s loads of bars, too many to mention, a good tip is to make sure you get free shots before you go into any bar, much cheaper this way!

During the day you can chill down the beach with chillout areas that have cool sounds and people dancing, there’s lots of water sports, and even mini foam parties on the beach!

Its also a good idea to hire a vehicle out, it cost us lot just £30 each for a weeks hire on one of the higher powered mopeds and only needed to refuel once (which costs hardly anything!) we drove out to another town - Protaras which was good for a change and was only 30 minutes drive, and Famagusta - this is a ghost town and something you definitely need to visit in Ayia Napa. It’s a town that has been abandoned after Turkey invaded it in the 1970's. It was a rich city like Monte Carlo, now it’s just gutted and no-one is allowed through the town which is guarded by the Turkish Army, Mercedes are left brand new and untouched in garages after the invasion.

You can look through binoculars from a watchtower and watch videos about it there.

I will always remember Ayia Napa because I met my girlfriend over there from Leeds like me who I am still happily seeing!

Ayia Napa is an amazing place with someone for everyone, if you have the money I highly recommend it, I shall definitely be going back.
