Here are some great photos of Madeira.
Madeira island lies in the east Atlantic and the nearest mainland is Morocco
which is around 600 km away. Madeira island was created by volcanic eruptions
and because of this, volcanic peaks are a major feature of Madeira. The climate
in Madeira is sub-tropical and therefore the southern side of Madeira is sunny
for much of the year and it enjoys warm winters too. The capital of Madeira
island is Funchal which is where most of the best hotels, restaraunts and shops
are to be found and around a third of Madeira's population live there.
Madeira has a completley different
character to mainland Portugal and attracts many keen walkers, sun lovers
and plant lovers.Visitors to Madeira are usually
smitten by the impressive rugged beauty of the peaks in comparison to the
lush vegetation around its coastline.
